Swedish Massage 30 / 60 minutes
A popular and widely recognized form of therapeutic massage, originated in Sweden in the early 19th century. Developed by Per Henrik Ling, a Swedish fencing instructor and gymnastics teacher, this technique aims to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and enhance overall well-being.
The essence of Swedish massage lies in its use of five primary techniques: effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, and vibration. Effleurage involves long, gliding strokes that help to warm up the muscles and prepare them for deeper work. Petrissage consists of kneading and squeezing, targeting deeper muscle layers to release tension and improve blood flow. Friction techniques use deep circular movements to break up adhesions and stretch muscle fibres. Tapotement includes rhythmic tapping, hacking, or pounding, which stimulates the nervous system and can invigorate tired muscles. Lastly, vibration involves shaking or trembling movements to loosen tissues and induce relaxation.
Hot Stone Massage 30 / 60 minutes
One of the oldest recorded massages, first used by Ancient Chinese medical practitioners. Native Americans, Europeans and Ancient Egyptians have also been recorded using hot stones to relieve pain. Warm natural lava stones are used to heat the muscle aiding a much deeper, more relaxing massage. The stones energise in the natural energy of the universe, passing positive energy and rebalancing your mind.
Warmed stones are placed on specific areas of your body to heat the muscle and relax faster than in a Swedish massage, stones are also used as a massage aid to allow deeper, pressured massage where needed.
Bamboo Massage 60 minutes
This is a great mix of lymphatic drainage and deep tissue massage. Using warm bamboo sticks to penetrate muscles deeper as well as pushing your lymph fluid faster to the lymph nodes to detox. This is a perfect massage for energetic bodies suffering with stiffness, aches and pains.
